Upcoming Workshops:   Christine Crosby – Oils – July 14, 2018
Christopher Kyle - Pointillism - May 12  2018 - 10 students

Chris,a Charleston native, studied Engineering Design Graphics and Graphic Design Trident Tech College but kept coming back to
traditional art. Kyle is a self-taught artist developing his skills through trial and error. His work is primarily done in charcoal however Chris
loves to incorporate colored pencils in his artwork and has a secret obsession with pen and ink.

In 2011 Chris Kyle started to take art seriously.  He joined the Summerville Artist Guild in 2012. Since then Chris has won a handful of
ribbons; done numerous commissions; and made a few business logos.

For Chris, Art is not a hobby as he strives to be a professional artist much like Jonathan Green and Bob Graham.  He says, “If they can do
it…Then why can’t I. “

About Chris Kyle’s workshop: You will learn how to create the look of Pointillism.

Supplies needed: Sketchbook no larger than 8x11 that works well for pencil and ink.,Pencil and eraser for sketching,,3 Black Micron pens:
Sizes 02, 03, and 05.

Chris will have a photo for you to work from.  If you would like to bring your own photo/s of a flower/s to work from you may do that also.
Lu Bentley:  Acrylic Workshop:   Playing with Acrylics
February 3, Saturday, 10-4
$55 members and $65 non members

The most frequently asked question I hear is:
How do I make the paint “do right”?  It won’t flow or move the way I want it to!!!
I will share products, methods and techniques to help you enjoy playing with the paint
and letting your creative juices flow more easily.

Handling the paint:  Acrylics are a very versatile medium. We will spend as much time as needed on handling paint using Gesso and
glazing fluids.

Design:  Basic design techniques to develop reference material into a finished piece.

Color:  Color mixing is complicated, fun and exciting.  A few guidelines can make it  easier.

Bring your own reference material or use the still life that will be set up. I will demonstrate my methods as examples, but paint whatever
subject you choose.  Brown bag your lunch. Bring paintings that you are not happy with, and we will do some creative analysis.                     Supply List
